Certificate Programs


Certificate programs are non-credit programs developed for people currently in the construction industry who need or want more formal construction management knowledge. The programs, taught by industry experts and ASU faculty, are specifically designed to serve the educational needs of working professionals.

Industry-related professionals who will also benefit from the programs include accountants and CPAs, attorneys, managers, insurance assessors, human resources and marketing professionals, property appraisers, realtors and developers, and lenders.

ACE currently offers five certificate programs:
 


ADOT Academy for the Development of DBE’s

ADOT and the ASU’s Alliance for Construction Excellence is offering a unique and special opportunity for currently certified DBEs that perform or desire to perform as contractors, sub-contractors, designers or consultants on ADOT projects. The Academy consists of three separate programs especially developed for each stage of a DBE company’s growth. Each program includes 28-hours of classroom education in the areas of leadership, communications, risk management, finance, marketing, bidding and procurement assistance. Selected applicants will be assigned to the course that is relevant to their level of experience and their company’s stage of growth within the DBE program.

 


National Subcontractors' Leadership Academy

The National Subcontractors' Leadership Academy is specifically designed for owners and senior management of subcontracting enterprises in the construction industry. The program provides an understanding of preconstruction, budgeting, the design phase, construction processes, commissioning and close-out. Students will markedly expand their ability to initiate and close out projects, plan the work, and create and manage schedules as they gain a thorough understanding of staffing, communication, quality management, and risk analysis.
 


Job Order Contracting Certificate Program

The Job Order Contracting Certificate Program provides a comprehensive overview of the Job Order Contracting process, including how to set up, operate, and manage a successful Job Order Contracting Program. Explore the roles and responsibilities of those involved in the process, pricing considerations, and the selection process. Learn how to mitigate risk, manage and meet expectations, and build relationships.
 


Project Management Certificate Program

The Project Management Certificate Program provides students with the skills to manage an entire construction project from beginning to end. The course content is intended to assure a balanced understanding of project management principles and practices including professional and philosophical standards that distinguish the modern-day construction practitioner. 


Construction Management Certificate Program

The Construction Management Certificate Program enhances knowledge of the business of construction and helps students gain a broader understanding of the construction process. The program focuses on the construction phase of the project and provides tools to understand all of the components of this phase.
